Artist Biography
Yura is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore that plays with a spectrum of mediums. Yura gathers most of her influence from philosophical theory and street art. Her works mainly consist of her intrigue thoughts on the art "industry" and the obscurity of the human emotions and thoughts to which it expands to the productions of her writings, illustrations, paintings and photographs. Apart from her art practice, Yura also has done some graphical design works for small startup brands which allows her to apply her art and design skill in various ways.
Artist Statement
My work often critique and confront the art world and the human condition. The formation and the understanding of art plays a major part in my artistic practice. The prominent use of words in my artworks attempts to seek and reach a deeper understanding of the everyday mundane experience; an almost cathartic experience for both the audience as well as myself. Using words as a bridge to find out the inner intentions that leads to the actions and the final product.
